The ESG Consortium Forum held on June 27 (World MSME Day) was a resounding success, featuring keynote speeches and panel discussions on topics such as a more sustainable world and better business, social factor is the key to a more sustainable future, and sustainable economic development. Attendees gained valuable insights into achieving a sustainable future for business and our world.

The event started with a warm welcome by Mr. Hugh CHOW, Executive Director of The ESG Consortium. Ms. Elena MAYER-BESTING, United Nations ESCAP, delivered an inspiring speech that highlighted the importance of sustainability for our future. We were also privileged to have a representative from Prudential Hong Kong Limited deliver a speech as a sponsor of the event.

Ar. Donald CHOI, JP. Executive Director and CEO of Chinachem Group, delivered the keynote speech 1. His speech offered valuable insights into building a more sustainable world and better business.

The first panel discussion, moderated by Mr. Hugh CHOW, Executive Director of The ESG Consortium, focused on “More sustainable world and better business: Future business models and opportunities.” The panelists included Mr. Stanley Zheng, Vice President of The Hong Kong General Chamber of Small and Medium Business, Ir. Chi-shing HO, General Manager of BEAM Society Limited, and Mr. Robert CHAN, Director of Industry Development, Construction Industry Council. The panel discussion highlighted the importance of collaboration and measurable progress in achieving sustainable economic development.

Keynote Speech 2 was delivered by Dr. Hon Elizabeth QUAT, BBS, JP, Member of Legislative Council, Chairman of the panel for Environmental Affairs, and Advisor of the ESGC.

Panel Discussion 2, moderated by Mr. Samuel KWONG, General Manager, ESG, Chinachem Group, focused on “Social factor is the key to a more sustainable future,” with panelists including Ms. Nicole YUEN, Founder and CEO of Women Workplace Index, Mr. Eric HUI, Chairman, Task Force on Green Insurance, The Hong Kong Federation of Insurers and Chief Executive Officer, Zurich Insurance (Hong Kong), and Ms. Piony LEUNG, Managing Director (Hong Kong), Café de Coral Hong Kong Limited.

Keynote Speech 3 was delivered by Mr. Johnson KONG, MD, BDO Hong Kong, Past President of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and Advisor of the ESGC.

Panel Discussion 3, moderated by Mr. Hugh CHOW, Executive Director, The ESG Consortium, focused on “Sustainable economic development: quantifying corporate ESG solutions,” with panelists including Mr. Ron CHOW, Chief Strategy Officer, Baguio Green Group Limited, Mr. Cyrus CHEUNG, Partner, ESG Disclosure & Consulting, PwC, and Ms. Esther TSANG, Director, ESG Strategy APAC Lead, UBS AG.

The event concluded with Mr. Stephen WONG, Former Privacy Commissioner and Benchmarks for Standards Committee Chairman, The ESG Consortium, delivering the closing remarks.
